The Raising Awareness of Young Women with Autism, a nonprofit 501C3 organization, honored philanthropist Jean Shafiroff with the 2018 Women of the Year Award at the Roshni TIA Awards Gala at the Hotel Pierre in New York City. Presenting Mrs. Shafiroff with the prestigious award was her good friend U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney who acknowledged Jean’s significant impact and contributions towards women’s rights and well-being. The Roshni TIA Awards Gala was the first nonprofit initiative for Raising Awareness of Young Women with Autism which received amazing support from up to 350 attendees.

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) celebrated the 21st Anniversary of the annual Collaborating for a Cure Benefit Dinner & Auction at Cipriani Wall Street, featuring an exclusive musical performance by Dawes. The annual gala raised approximately $2.5 million to support the SWCRF “Invest in Research” efforts that fund highly collaborative research projects focused on eradicating cancer. The Collaborating for a Cure gala was well-attended, undeterred by the snow storm and 14 other fundraising events taking place throughout New York City. Proudly, the 21st Anniversary’s gala seating encompassed 80% personal purchases and 20% purchases from corporations, whereas the other 14 fundraising events saw a turnout comprised of 20% personal purchases and 80% corporate purchases.
The John and Daria Barry Precision Oncology Center of Excellence at VA’s Manhattan Campus Honored Hundreds of Thousands of Courageous Veterans Battling Prostate Cancer with a VALOR Dedication Ceremony Leading Up to Veterans Day
Helping to advance revolutionary research in prostate cancer and delivery of precision treatments to U.S. Veterans, the John and Daria Barry Foundation has donated $2.5 million to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to establish the John and Daria Barry Precision Oncology Center of Excellence at the Manhattan Campus of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System (VANYHHS). The Barry Center of Excellence will address the clinical needs of Veterans currently battling prostate cancer in the New York metropolitan area and beyond. The Barry Center of Excellence will also serve as a precision oncology hub in the PCF’s preeminent network of centers executing the ambitious mission of improving the care of U.S. Veterans with prostate cancer. Due to the cancer-causing mutations in prostate cancer that may be found in different types of cancer, this investment will have implications for many other forms of life-threatening cancer.

CMX Cinemas along with its CEO, Jose Leonardo Martí, hosted an invitation-only red-carpet event to herald the opening of their first New York City outpost, CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd.
The star-studded event paid homage to three celebrated films from the most coveted eras of the 30s/40s, 70s, and modern day, and was hosted by New York film icons that included film director, producer and writer, Spike Lee; renowned actress and model Brooke Shields; and actress and granddaughter of iconic silent film legend Charlie Chaplin, Kiera Chaplin. The event drew more than 300 guests, made up an illustrious mix of New York socialites, luminaries, industry leaders and celebrities, such as Katie Couric and John Molner, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Grace Hightower De Niro, Paul Sorvino, Jay McInerney and Anne Hearst, Lizzie Tisch, and Jazmin Grimaldi and Ian Mellencamp.

The nostalgic movie theme was also present throughout the overall guest experience of the night, where the specific eras were translated through the event décor, musical entertainment performances, and cocktails and culinary delights presented by CMX Cinemas’ Vice President of Culinary Development, Isaac Stewart.
