Christopher Fischer Cashmere: A Continuing Journey of “Luxe” Casual Urban Style

Fashion is always changing, and over the last decade and more cashmere has been totally re-invented from its classical roots of twinsets and turtle neck sweaters, evolving for today’s fashionable woman to being all about relaxed, easy to wear, casual urban style. Christopher Fischer Cashmere has consistently been at the forefront of this change, leading the way with his focus on changing the rules of sweater design in reinventing shape and fit, and his ever so particular attention to detail in his quest to reinvigorate and contemporize cashmere fashions to be the modern and luxe pieces that Christopher Fischer is renowned for.

With over 30 years of experience in the cashmere industry, a journey which all started in the 1980’s in Hawick in the borders region of Scotland as well as Biella in Italy, and now extends to the cashmere producing regions of Alashan and Inner Mongolia, Christopher has seen and been a part of tremendous change in the cashmere industry, and with his unwavering and uncompromising commitment to only the very best quality and purity in everything he does, he is recognized and acknowledged as one being of the true “Kings of Cashmere”.

An award- winning knitwear designer and retailer, Christopher Fischer designs and manufactures cashmere collections for men and women, as well as home and travel must-haves, his designs being sought out by celebrities and socialites, elite fashion professionals and even royalty. His new collections are based on modernity, yet his styles have an ageless attitude and fashion sensibility based on a luxe cashmere lifestyle, with his cashmere sweaters and accessories becoming favorites and the go- to pieces in every woman’s, and man’s wardrobe.

Texture and touch are essential ingredients in the Christopher Fischer collections, ranging from “ever so soft” chunky gauge sweaters, the lofty but lightweight textures of his featherweight cashmere, to his skin- breathing ultra-fine layering pieces and cashmere cardigans that drape on the body and feel like a second skin in the finest of cashmere. Do not worry about finding that certain hue, as the wide range of endless colors ensure a perfect match with any look or outfit. Essential looks of the new collection are relaxed and oversized “Saturday morning” shapes that are easy to wear for all occasions, as well as newer cropped and boxier off the shoulder shapes.

For Fall 2015 Christopher Fischer now brings his design sensibility into the home, or perfect for travelling, with his new “Luxury Lounge” collection. The look is athletic influenced minimal and easy tanks, tees and robes, as well as pants, shorts and socks all in the finest and softest cashmere that is pure Christopher Fischer. And then for the ultimate luxury, pair everything with a pure cashmere travel blanket, cashmere eye-mask or cashmere shawl.

His designs always keep such influences as the Hamptons’ lifestyle and a base of British design in mind, and he is influenced by local and global fashion trends observed on his frequent travels. Each and every design is of the combination of Christopher’s meticulous attention to quality, style, value, color and fit, and his collections sold in leading stores worldwide as well as Christopher Fischer boutiques in Southampton, NY, on Madison Avenue in New York City, and online at

Dee Ocleppo’s luxurious Spring Summer 2015 handbag collection launched

Handbag designer Dee Hilfiger has launched her luxurious Spring Summer 2015 collection, drawing inspiration from her travels in the Caribbean.

Dee Hilfiger, wife of acclaimed-designer Tommy Hilfiger, founded the New York-based brand Dee Ocleppo in 2014.

The latest collection features streamlined silhouettes, paired with interchangeable covers in exotic skins and leathers. Bright PVC and fringed basket weave detailing give each bag a sense of playful jet set glamour, perfect for transitioning from sun and sea to daily accessorizing.

She says she designed her line for a woman who is in the market for something different. “We keep going back to the term ‘versatile luxury’. It is really a point of differentiation – for us and for the consumer.”

The tones and textures are mixed and married across the collection. On the signature Roma tote bag, soft nude and crisp white basket weave covers frame vivid orange, pink, blue and green leather. Gold hardware adds an eye-catching accent to each piece.

The Nassau, a dramatically oversized circular tote in brightly-colored tropical floral prints, is trimmed in bright fringe, making a bold statement.

Sangrias and Summer Bites at the Jeannie McQueeny Kaftan Shopping Party

Hamptonites gathered on Saturday, August 16, 2014 for sangrias, summer bites and a Jeannie McQueeny Kaftan Shopping Party, courtesy of Kelli Delaney of the popular Hamptons website, KDHamptons.

Chic kaftans are a fashion staple for summer, and these ones by luxury resort wear label Jeannie McQueeny are particularly gorgeous. All are handmade using the best quality silks, linen and cashmere fabrics, and are primarily sold in Lyford Cay.

The brand originated in Nassau, with one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry, and has evolved into an internationally coveted ready-to-wear collection.

The girls from jewelry makers Origami Owl were at the party helping guests create personalized lockets for Moms and daughters.

Check out KDHamptons’ interview with Jeannie McQueeny on her aesthetic for combining glamor with comfort:

KDH: Some women are afraid to try the “kaftan look”- can any woman wear a kaftan?
JMQ: Any woman can wear a kaftan as there are interpretations of it to suit every age, size and style. I think a kaftan’s appeal lies in the fact that it’s a timeless garment that make a woman look both totally glamorous, yet feel completely relaxed.

KDH: Can a kaftan be worn anywhere?
JMQ: There is a kaftan for every occasion! Of course at the beach, but my collection always has exquisitely embroidered and beaded kaftans that can be worn at the grandest occasions. My idea is that most of my kaftans can move effortlessly from a chic beach lunch, to cocktails, and on to dinner.

KDH: Do you have a favorite silhouette from the current collection?
JMQ: Yes, there are two silhouettes I love: a long simple piece that slips on over a swimsuit and ties at the waist; and a ‘double’ or oversized kaftan that gives the effect of butterfly floating.

KDHWhat are the best accessories to wear with a kaftan?
JMQ: Strappy sandals (flat or high) always look terrific – as do bare feet if on the beach – and clutches, or slouchy bags (large or small, depending on the setting and time of day etc). Jeannie McQueeny kaftans tend to have embroidered and jeweled necklines – I know what a bore it is to take a lot of jewelry on vacation, so when I started, I incorporated the idea of a ‘necklace’ into the kaftan design. One really only needs dangly earrings, dramatic bracelets and a pair of sandals!

KDH: What’s next for the Jeannie McQueeny lifestyle brand?
JMQ: A line for the African market (men and women) which is extremely exciting, and swimwear!
