Film Icons Spike Lee, Brooke Shields and Kiera Chaplin commemorated the evening with movie screenings honoring cinema’s most iconic eras

CMX Cinemas along with its CEO, Jose Leonardo Martí, hosted an invitation-only red-carpet event to herald the opening of their first New York City outpost, CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd.

The star-studded event paid homage to three celebrated films from the most coveted eras of the 30s/40s, 70s, and modern day, and was hosted by New York film icons that included film director, producer and writer, Spike Lee; renowned actress and model Brooke Shields; and actress and granddaughter of iconic silent film legend Charlie Chaplin, Kiera Chaplin. The event drew more than 300 guests, made up an illustrious mix of New York socialites, luminaries, industry leaders and celebrities, such as Katie Couric and John Molner, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Grace Hightower De Niro, Paul Sorvino, Jay McInerney and Anne Hearst, Lizzie Tisch, and Jazmin Grimaldi and Ian Mellencamp.

Notable attendees also included: CEO Jose Leonardi Marti of CMX Cinemas, Spike Lee, Brooke Shields, Kiera Chaplin, Katie Couric, Dolly Wells (Can You Ever Forgive Me, Blunt Talk), Rosanna Scotto, Davi Santos (CBS’ Tell Me A Story), Damon Gillespie (NBC’s Rise), Richard Phillips, Drew Nieporent, Alex Lundqvist, Nancy Jarecki, Tove Nord, Monique Pean, Charl Brown, Lise Evans, Leon Robinson, Jessica Barta Lam, Marinet Matthee, Kea Ho, Jamie Cepero, Antoine Verglas, Timo Weiland and Easter Sunday.

The evening commenced with screenings specially curated by each host that depicted a period-specific film, with Spike Lee presenting BlacKkKlansman, Brooke Shields presenting Pretty Baby, and Kiera Chaplin presenting City Lights.

The nostalgic movie theme was also present throughout the overall guest experience of the night, where the specific eras were translated through the event décor, musical entertainment performances, and cocktails and culinary delights presented by CMX Cinemas’ Vice President of Culinary Development, Isaac Stewart.

“Expanding CMX Cinemas into one of the world’s most vibrant and contemporary metropolitan areas is an honor and widespread achievement for the CMX brand of theaters,” said CMX Cinemas CEO, Jose Leonardo Marti. “With its city-inspired sophistication, CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd is poised to become a literal icon and flagship for CMX. We look forward to sharing our luxurious cinematic experience with movie-goers for many years to come in this new dynamic and distinctively intimate space.”

Featuring a vertical layout with 45,500 sq. feet of theater space, each of CMX CinéBistro’s six levels contains two auditoriums and immersive bars in the common areas. Ranging in size from 46 to 64 seats, CMX CinéBistro’s six auditoriums feature the latest in projection technology, including a Dolby 7.1 sound system, and lush oversized reclining love seats with leather accents and foot rests, complete with a swivel table. CMX’s unique luxury concept uses cutting-edge technology to offer moviegoers the ultimate upscale, relaxing cinema experience with in-seat, full-service dining and an exceptional assortment of wines and handcrafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients by top mixologists.

CMX has grown exponentially by introducing their own and acquiring other movie theater chains, the most successful being the acquisition of Cobb Theatres and Cinebistro. These acquisitions made CMX the eighth largest movie theatre chain in the United States, with 37 locations, 388 screens and its parent company, Cinemex, the 6th largest worldwide with 332 sites and 2,861 screens. CMX has robust expansion plans for 2018, with new locations slated in New Jersey, Illinois, Florida, and Georgia.
